VegaFina was launched in Spain, 1998 by the Tabacalera company who are situated in the Dominican Republic. A massive international distributor, Tabacalera had an idea about what people wanted from a cigar. Well constructed, good flavour and most of all a good price, that’s what the people want.
And so they set about creating a new range, the VegaFina or “Finest Fields”, to satiate this part of the market. Little did the company know that the brand would go on to be one of the best selling premium cigar brands globally.
Today the brand dominates many markets such as Spain, Germany and the USA and shows no signs of slowing down. In this blog we look at the VegaFina classic premium blend, available in two vitolas, the corona and robusto.
The classic premium blend has a great smooth flavour owing to its internal components. Different fillers are sourced from Colombia, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
These long fillers are then wrapped in an Indonesian binder before being finished with a Ecuador Connecticut wrapper that is almost golden in complexion.
When surveying the exterior of the cigar you will note the cigar is very blemish free, with hardly a vein to be seen.
As a “no frills” cigar you may expect these cigars to be rather devoid of flavour, but you would be sorely mistaken. The VegaFina classic premium blend was awarded a rating of 89% by Cigar Aficionado magazine, a very respectable score.
VegaFina are known for only using the “Finest Fields”, as the name implies and as such their tobacco is grown in the ideal climatic conditions and this has a big payoff in the flavour department.
When smoking one of these cigars you can expect to encounter hints of nuts and woodlike tones interspersed with sweeter citric notes. There is plenty for the aficionado to draw from this cigar. Falling somewhere between mild and medium strength this is a great candidate for an everyday cigar.
Currently we have two different vitolas, the corona and the robusto. Both come in a handy aluminium tube making it a great option for a day or night out.
