Wherefore Art Thou Romeo?
With Valentine’s Day approaching, we at The Pipe Shop thought this a perfect time to pay special attention to that famous Cuban brand named after the pair of star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. Romeo Y Julieta’s earliest origins can be traced back as far as 1875, but the company grew into prominence through the 20th century (browse all products). The love affair between cigar smokers and this manufacturer has been constant ever since. Over the years many famous figures have been enamoured with the rich, bold flavours provided such as Winston Churchill and John F. Kennedy. Shakespeare wrote that “love is a smoke raised with the fumes of sighs”. On the contrary, those who smoke these cigars would exclaim that “ love is a smoke raised with the fumes of impassioned contemplation and zealous relaxation”. Many formats have been released to keep content smokers of all different preferences. From packets of mini cigars and puritos for those seeking a quick taste of luxury on their coffee break to those looking for something more grandiose, say the 7 inch Anejados Churchill there is something for everyone. Here we have a small selection of these different cigars.
Take a step back in time with these brilliant, aged Churchill’s packaged in the iconic previous tubes from the past decade. Specially aged tobacco has been resting for over 5 years before being rolled into these triumphant Churchill’s. Any Romeo y Julieta fan will want to get their hands on these limited edition cigars before they go. Smooth, earthy and rich in flavour.
A new vitola to Romeo y Julieta, this special Piramide has been aged for between five and eight years. Over this time period the cigars become mellow and creamy in flavour, a real treat. A limited run that any Cuban cigar fan should try whilst available.
For too long there was no robusto in Romeo’s range, so the arrival of the Short Churchill in 2006 proved most welcome. It was the first medium flavoured cigar from Cuba in this popular vitola. Hardly surprising, then that it has been a huge success. Available in a box of 10 cigars, any smoker would be delighted to have at hand.
