He spent his time training in the stronghold of the tobacco industry in Dundee. From there taking the decision very early to realise his ideas for tobacco mixtures. In 1903 he opened the House of Rattray in Perth. The result being the founding of one of the largest tobacco companies on the British Isles. Known mainly for blending tobacco on site, even though the original building is no longer there the infamous blends, traditional and aromatic can still be enjoyed today.
