Design Berlin (DB) was a German pipe-making company and was once the number-two best-selling German pipe make, second to Vauen.
Design Berlin was founded in 1948 as Pfeifenstudo Hartmann by Hubert Hartmann. In 1975, the company took the name Design Berlin and instated the lowercase ‘db’ logo as part of a modernisation push.
Design Berlin production was discontinued in 2019.
Design Berlin pipes are still around as discontinued products. They are highly sought after, and if available, are found primarily through estate pipe retailers and specialty collectors.
