About the Maker:
Alberto Paronelli, a name reminisced on with fondness and reverence. Born in Italy in 1914, the young Alberto studied in Italy and Switzerland. He excelled in his studies. After that, at the age of 18 he relocated to London to see through his vocational studies. Firstly, whilst living in the British capital he was enamoured by the Savoy Hotel and secondly, the shops of the Burlington Arcade. As a result of his visits he gravitated towards the pipes being sold and within no time found himself garnering a serious collection. Consequently his aptitude at selecting quality pipes led to him being hired as a consultant for many other serious pipe collectors.
Upon his return to Italy he found employment with Leonida Rossi, promptly establishing a an office in Milan from which he would distribute Rossi’s pipes. After that his feet were firmly planted in the world of pipe making. Through his love of stimulating intellectual conversation with like minded people he went on to found the La Pipa Magazine. He would go on to design pipes for Brebbia, in addition to his own brand. The company has been kept within the family and is now run by his grandson. To sum up the Paronelli brand manufacture on average 1000 pipes per year and remain close to many pipe smokers hearts.
