Cigar Aficionado: 2012 January/February [100 Years of Fuente]

A century ago, a young Cuban immigrant named Arturo Fuente first rolled cigars under that name. In the February issue of Cigar Aficionado we look back at the phenomenal success of the Fuente brand. We Also look at the family dynasty that carries on its legacy and commemorates its many triumphs today. Plus, we reveal our annual Top 25 Cigars of 2011. Also, a look at the next generation of golfers poised to occupy golf’s leader-boards. Finally we tell you how to avoid sucker bets on NFL’s Super Bowl. Also, we speak with cigar smoker and political commentator Sean Hannity, go under the tents to see how Connecticut Shade wrapper is grown and look back at Cuba’s limited and regional edition cigars from the past year. Don’t miss out on the Cigar Aficionado: 2012 January/February [100 Years of Fuente] issue.

Cigar Aficionado was first published in September 1992 by Marvin R Shanken. He had already seen success with other publications such as Wine Spectator, which had already had a successful run since 1976. Shanken’s vision for the magazine was to have high profile celebrities and athletes on the cover to draw in the consumers. This worked to great effect. Cigar Aficionado has had many notable persons such as Jack Nicholson, Arnold Shwarzenegger and Michael Jordan to name a few. The contents of the publication would focus on cigar culture primarily, that being said other luxury items and news would appear throughout. Being an American magazine it would often comment on its opposition to the Cuban Embargo.
