Alec Bradley was founded in 1996 by Alan Rubin. He named the company after his two sons first names. Firstly he manufactured a line of cigars aimed primarily at golf courses. These were named ‘Bogey’s Stogies’. This venture did not prove successful but the undeterred Alan went on to seek the assistance of industry professional Ralph Montero.

Montero and his cigar designer Henke Kelner who had worked for Davidoff formed a plan. The new line dubbed the ‘Occidental Reserve’ was a immediately a different story. As a result of selling out almost overnight, this turn allowed the company to go forth and flourish in the market.
