Juan Lopez

Juan Lopez was established in 1876 by the brands namesake himself. The brand started out manufacturing and selling their cigars out of Calle Dragones, Havana. Within a few years the brand’s name and recognition started to grow. Thirty years later, when Juan Lopez passed away and left the business to his children it was a thriving success.

The family decided to sell the brand to Sociedad Cosme Del Peso y Cía. At some point the brand was re-named “Flor de Juan Lopez” but after some years it returned to its original name. From 1918 until 1953 they would retain the brands rights until the Cuban revolution. After the revolution ended, in 1960 Juan Lopez resumed production under control of the Cuban Revolutionary Government under their process of nationalisation. To this day the brand is popular in many different countries.
