Plasencia – Cosecha 149 | La Vega Robusto (Single Loose Cigar)
RING GAUGE: 52
LENGTH: 5 Inches – 127 mm
Plasencia Cosecha 149 is a rich, balanced puro and the first all-Honduran cigar by Plasencia. Grown in the fertile Honduran regions of Olancho, the Jamastran Valley, and Talanga, the leaves acquire a deep, well-fermented character during the aging process that began in 2014. Plasencia Cosecha 149 is a full-bodied, medium- to full-strength cigar balanced by distinct notes of cream, dark chocolate, and a subtle yet earthy hint of cedar.
Plasencia cigars have deep roots dating back to 1865, when Don Eduardo Plasencia migrated from the Canary Islands to Cuba. His dream was to become a successful tobacco farmer. Little did he know that over 150 years later the brand bearing his name would be more popular than ever!
Once in Cuba Don Eduardo set to work and by 1898 had recruited his nephew Sixto Plasencia Juares and opened the Corojal farm. By the 1920’s Sixto’s sons became involved in the family business and the farms business expanded. By the time the Cuban revolution arrived the farm was to be nationalised. It was then that Don Sixto headed for Nicaragua to start a fresh. The run of bad luck didn’t stop there, the family would also have to flee Nicaragua in the late 70’s due to political unrest, and so they headed for Honduras.
In 1986 Nestor Plasencia would enter the cigar business, within the first year he was shippin over one million cigars for other brands. In 1990 the family would return to Nicaragua, expanding the business once again and rapidly increasing production. It wouldn’t be until 2017 that the family would release their own brand onto the market, the response proved this was a correct move.
