The Chacom brand is the merging of two families into one super company. Henri Comoy was a prisoner of war in Switzerland during the first world war. During his incarceration he met his estranged cousins, the Chaupis family. Upon their release at the end of the war, they decided to put their heads together and create a pipe manufacturing company. Thus, Chacom was born. 1925 saw the first run of pipes being manufactured in Saint-Claude and quickly the brand started to pick up traction. By the time the second world war had broken out, the Chacom brand were already the most popular pipes in France and Belgium. By the time the war was over they were the leading pipe tobacco brand across Europe. From here the brand went on to dominate the market overseas in the United States.
