Bolivar – A History
Originally founded in 1921 by Jose F. Rocha, the company is named after the famous Simon Bolivar (El Libratador). Bolivar first gained fame for its unique, miniature cigar the Delgado. This was in fact the worlds smallest hand rolled cigar, just shy of 2 inches in length and sporting a 20 ring gauge. In 1954 the rights and brand name were purchased by Cifuentes y Cia after the passing of Rocha. At this time the production of Bolivar cigars moved to the Partagas Factory in Havana. It is here that many vitolas are still manufactured today by some of the finest Cuban torcedores. Many fans of the brand site the full body and flavour profile of Bolivar cigars as the main draw for them.
