Introduction
Century is a manufacturer of loose pipe tobacco in the American Style. Beloved for their aromatic classics such as American Black Cherry and Rum & Maple, the company has released two new, distinct tobaccos unlike anything in our loose pipe tobacco collection.
Century: Black Rasp Loose Pipe Tobacco (50g Portion)
Despite its name hinting to the raspberry within, Black Rasp actually utilises two different fruit flavours that harmonise perfectly, the other being Mango.
Made from a base of Golden & Black Cavendish, Black Rasp is a typical American blend in its consistency and how it smokes.
Slow burning and cool, this blend is great for anytime of the day thanks to its medium bodied nature.
The flavour profile itself does boast prominent tones of Raspberry and Mango, but subtler more ambiguous fruity tones are hidden within.

A quite coarse cut of tobacco that is medium/strong but it does have a nice flavour and aroma of Raspberry. It would suit those with a strong palate. I smoked it in my clay pipe. – A. Colebrook
Century: Stoved Virginia Loose Pipe Tobacco (50g Portion)
Stoved Virginia is first up, this was a surprise for us here as previously all Century tobaccos we have encountered have been heavily topped with flavouring (this is how they have come to have some of the most beloved aromatic pipe tobaccos in their catalogue), Stoved Virginia on the other hand is completely untopped… but there’s a catch!
This is still a profoundly sweet tobacco, one could even be forgiven for assuming that it would have some type of added flavouring, instead Century uses a crafty process of slow stove heating.
What this does is brings the natural sugars out of the tobacco and as a result it becomes sticky and caramalesque. This makes it a slow burning tobacco that is great for smoking as is or mixing through a dryer tobacco.

This is a very coarse cut of tobacco with a medium flavour. Slightly sweetened by the virginias, I enjoyed this in my clay pipe.
