Cigar & Whisky Event Recap

Introduction

On the 18th of June  we held the first Cigar & Whisky event in partnership with our neighbouring bar, The Mother Superior. We are grateful to say that the event was a huge success and in turn would like to thank all of those that came out to participate. In this blog we will take a look at the play by play of the event.

Location

The event kicked off at 2pm at The Mother Superior’s outside seating area. The weather was reasonable, sunny with a mild wind. We had a great turn out with many familiar faces and a few new ones, again thanks to all who attended. Once everyone was gathered The Pipe Shop Ltd’s Steve and The Mother Superior’s Jane let the event commence, distributing the cigars and whisky before giving a thorough breakdown of each item.

Cigars

Attendees were treated to two cigars, first a Quorum Shade Connecticut Robusto. This New World cigar consists of Nicaraguan long and short filler tobaccos that have been well aged and bound in Nicaraguan Connecticut Broadleaf and Ecuadorian Wrapper leaf. A great all round cigar, the Quorum was a perfect cigar for both newcomers and hardened veterans.

A creamy cigar with notes of pepper, citrus, sweet tobacco and subtle verdant qualities equalled smiles all round.

The next cigar was the much lauded H.Upmann Majestic. This Cuban cigar has had an illustrious career, being on the market for over 70 years. Sitting between light and medium bodied, the Majestic has an eye-catching golden corojo wrapper. As was to be expected, these cigars’ nuances of cereal, roasted nuts, cream and pepper (with a hint of olive) impressed all and were paired perfectly with the whiskeys provided.

Whisky

The whiskys were expounded upon by Jane in great detail, to the delight of all the revellers. As the event progressed, the strength of these fine whiskeys definitely added up with most leaving the event in pleasantly cheerful spirits. Those who were at the event were treated to the following:

• 1 x Edradour 2007 Whisky

• 1 x Bunnahabhain “Plum Tobacco” Whisky

• 1 x Waterford Lakefield Edition 1.1 Whisky

• 1 x Nc’nean Distillery Organic Scotch Malt Whisky
