Introduction
Romeo Y Julieta have gained an army of loyal fans over their 100 year long history, none more famous than British wartime prime minister Winston Churchill who became an avid fan after his visit to Havana in 1946. Other notable customers include J.F.K, Jack Nicholson, Arnold Schwarzanegger and many more.
Named after the famous play about the pair of tragic lovers, Romeo Y Julieta have remained among the top tier of Cuban cigar brands since their inception and continue to inspire and entice cigar aficionados of all walks of life.
No.3
Today we look at the No.3, a modest vitola that packs a large flavour profile into a small package.
At 40 ring gauge and just shy of 5 inches long, the No.3 is the ideal cigar for short smoke when on a night out, at a family gathering or any other occasion that calls for a cigar but doesn’t permit the smoker the time needed to dedicate to a robusto or larger.
Another factor to note is the delightful tin that the No.3 is housed within. This allows for it to be transported on one’s person without the anxiety of it receiving any damage.
On top of this the tin helps to keep it in good condition in regards to moisture and humidity content.
Tasting Notes
As with most Romeo Y Julieta cigars the No.3 is medium strength and would be considered “full flavour”. A good choice for those with some previous experience with cigars, the No.3 has a rewarding kick.
Upon first being lit a notable combination of white pepper and cedar are at the forefront. These eventually subside into a subtler palate of roasted nuts/almonds with a dark cocoa and leather undertone.
As it progresses some spice reintroduces itself before being played out by an encore of caramel and other sweet suggestions.
