Introduction
Montecristo are one of the most recognisable Cuban cigar brands in the world with their products being sought after across the four corners of the globe.
The brand’s reputation has been built on quality and consistency for decades and as a result, for many smokers they are the go to brand.
Today we will look at one of their larger vitolas, the No.2, and in the process outline what makes this cigar so special. So sit back, light up and enjoy!
Piramides
Upon first inspection one immediately notices the tapered shape of the cap of the No.2. If you have not encountered this shape before it may seem peculiar, but it has certain benefits that we will outline.
This shape is known by cigar smokers as a Piramide, a term that is not exclusive to Montecristo. Some may also refer to it as a “Torpedo”. Many cigar smokers gravitate to this shape and express their approval of its comfortable fit between the lips and slightly more concentrated flavour.
The latter is a result of the smoke being directed in a more linear fashion, the end result being the taste buds on the tongue are subjected to a higher volume of smoke.
Tasting Notes
As with all Montecristo cigars the No.2 boasts a complex mixture of rich flavours thanks to the carefully selected leaves chosen for these cigars.
Grown in the famous Vuelta Abajo zone, a region coveted for producing the finest tobacco in the world, the No.2 offers a top tier smoking experience.
When smoking a No.2 you can expect to encounter notes of earth, nuts, spices along with hints of dark coffee, cedar and leather.
